Though it’s an easy commute to Manhattan, it’s not the only thing Jersey City can be proud of as the city has a booming job sector nicknamed Wall Street West. Thanks to high-rise office buildings and attractive job opportunities, calling Jersey City home becomes more enticing every day. Residents relish the chance to spend the evening out on the town with the whole family, checking out delicious restaurants before enjoying a stroll past the waterfront to soak up the Manhattan skyline and Jersey City’s bright ambiance all at once.

Jersey City denizens love must-eat locations like the snazzy Hamilton Inn, Matthews, Downtown Taqueria, and the hand-rolled specialty sushi found at Domo Domo. Jersey City even claims, according to a much-discussed New York Times article, that the best pizza in New York is served at Jersey City’s Razza.


Other delicious gems in Jersey City’s crown include Luna, The Franklin, and 15 Fox Place, all found in JC Heights; and in the Downtown district; Dullboy, Batello, South House, and Madame Claude Bis, which is well-liked for its delicious cuisine, not to mention its atmospheric speakeasy entrance.

The city is teeming with green space, some of the most prominent being Liberty State Park and Lincoln Park, not to mention the walkable waterfront with piers jutting out into the Hudson. As if that were not enough, the city as a whole is very walkable, making it a perfect locale for an evening stroll after work or a morning jog. Plus, if walking is not your speed, the city is incredibly navigable via its public transportation system.


There are also many amazing events throughout the year—with favorites such as York Street Project’s Evening Under The Stars and the Jersey City Jazz Festival. As a whole, Jersey City is a vibrant city full of exciting amenities and an ever-growing roster of hip neighborhoods.

Transport to New York City

Never more than a hop, skip, and a jump away, Jersey City is a perfect home base for anyone seeking a more ideal city without losing connection to Manhattan. Simply hop on the ferry or the PATH subway for a short commute to NYC. If those don’t appeal, driving is also an option as the city is just past the Holland Tunnel which is at the edge of Jersey City and Hoboken.
