Hoboken

Bursting with activity, atmosphere, and opportunity.

Welcome to Hoboken

A small and trendy city with easy access to NYC

This dynamic city is barely larger than its nickname: the “Mile Square City.” Clocking in at 1.25 miles, this small city is nonetheless bursting with activity, atmosphere, and opportunity. Directly across from the West Village and Chelsea, Hoboken is perched on the west bank of the Hudson River and boasts a beautifully famous skyline.

Winsome tree-lined streets are dotted with townhomes and condos, and every corner brings new parks, restaurants, and bars, offering a vibrant nightlife. Luxury buildings are on the rise as well, ensuring everyone’s tastes can be fulfilled. Hoboken has all the charms of a friendly small town but with the added bonus of big-city amenities, a spectacular view, and a convenient commute to Manhattan.

What to Love

  • Small town vibes meet big city atmosphere
  • Short and sweet commute
  • Incredibly walkable and clean
  • Great restaurants, activities, and shops in their own right—skip the commute and stay right in town!

Local Lifestyle

Blanketed by a friendly, bright atmosphere that is created by cheerful residents, attractive surroundings, and fun nightlife, Hoboken is highly walkable.

Its compact nature makes it an excellent home for young professionals and residents who don’t want to own cars. In fact, the average age of its population has been decreasing steadily in recent years. Many seek out Hoboken for its urban yet inviting, friendly vibe. Vibrant and exciting without the price tag of Manhattan, the short commute to the city makes it an ideal locale for any professional or city dweller. A weekend stroll along the clean, walkable streets brings you past charming bookstores, brunch with delicious mimosas, a glittering skyline, bakeries, and bars.

Dining, Shopping, & Entertainment

Hoboken might offer a great commute to Manhattan and other areas of NYC and Jersey, but in fact, it has more than enough right in town to satisfy anyone, so much so that Travel + Leisure magazine knows it. With the city’s main thoroughfare being named one of “America’s greatest Main Streets,” it’s obvious that Hoboken is brimming with opportunity.

Chock-full of boutiques and local restaurants, it’s easy to find favorites no matter where in the “Mile Square City” you live. Check out any number of great places, such as the delicious coffee and workspace at Bwè Kafe, the charming parisian atmosphere of Elysian, a local favorite, Anthony Davids, and the best Pho in town, Pho Nomenon

Beyond only that, other unique spots are found all the time. Explore more than just baked goods at Antique Bar and Bakery, and then visit other local favorites like Augustinos and Fiore’s House of Quality.

Things to Do

As if the plethora of shops, boutiques, and restaurants weren’t enough, Hoboken’s 1.25 miles also boasts a number of parks, activities, and thriving cultural centers.

The hub of much of Hoboken’s cultural programming is the Monroe Center, which offers more than 100 businesses housed in an industrial-style space. Fitness classes, art classes at Urban Art, salons and spas, music classes, private rental spaces, and more are all available.

During the summer months, the Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse is a hot spot for locals launching kayaks and paddleboards into the Hudson. Even with all the amenities, great views, easy access, and incredible dining and bar scene that usually comes with bigger cities, Hoboken offers the community and support of living in a small town.

Transportation to NYC

Hoboken might be small, but it is mighty—and, importantly, extremely well-connected. Hopping on a train from the PATH station will drop you in Penn Station in twenty minutes or less, while taking one of the area’s ferries will cut that trip in half, right down to ten minutes. You also have the option of taking the bus from Washington St or Clinton St right into Port Authority. Other options to get around include “The Hop” and the light rail, which will take you to the PATH train as well.

Schools

Served by the Hoboken Public School District, students and families thrive because of a great student-to-teacher ratio, many extra-curricular activities, and an emphasis on education. Other great educational opportunities include:
